DON'T COME BACK WITHOUT IT

With no danger of taxing the reader's mental powers, the author writes of the often incredible and generally puerile antics of a college grad before and after entering the career of girl reporter. With a verbal facility which is reminiscent of the collegiate humor of the 30's, she tells of her encounters with various person-ages of popular note, her usually unsuccessful efforts to lose weight, her lackadaisical romance with a childhood sweetheart, and her bizarre initiation into the by-ways of New York working life. With few ethical reservations and a curious perspective of the young career woman, she describes her perhaps naive, perhaps uninhibited plunges into the world of the reporter. This brand of wit certainly produces numerous chortles for the first chapter or two, but it is debatable whether her nonstop humor will have the same effect throughout the full course. The subway reader and the wife whose library hours are regulated by the sound of her pressure cooker will find this breezy book of considerable light entertainment.
