EVERYBODY'S FAVORITE DUCK

From macabre cartoonist Wilson, a verbal cartoon pitting the evil genius of Professor Moriarty, Fu Manchu and Fantomas against the off-setting brilliance of a Holmes/Nero Wolfe and a Watson/Archie Goodwin--here named Enoch Bone and John Weston. Bone and Weston are brought out of retirement to ensure President Parker's safety when he visits Waldo World's new History Hall--a room filled with presidential ""Waldobots,"" each so lifelike it's impossible to tell the real from the robotic. The villains, however, are out in full force--letting loose everything vile from room-service bombs to rats in tunnels, bats in caves, poison pellets, trip-wired secret passages, rigged computers, and enough disguises to outfit the fifth grade in every elementary school in the nation. On Bone and Weston's side, though, is Anthenee, the beautiful daughter of the dastardly Spectrobert--who dismantles one of dad's direst contraptions for them, leaving the free world free while the villains are (perhaps) permanently vanquished. A messy in-joke, sending up arcane mystery characters in Disney World-like environs. Has all the subtlety of a cartoon, but less impact. Back to the drawing board, Wilson.
