Gibbons puts her advice on the care, feeding, protection and training of parakeets in the form of a story, told by a little girl whose friend Sam gives her a hatchling, and she dresses up the three-color cartoons with some oppy floor patterns and collage-like representations of old tablecloths, mantles, etc. By us, she might as well have done a straight manual--or left parakeet owners to look up the appropriate section in a bird book.
