With lots of photographs and a talent for brevity the author presents the engineering feats of the future. There is a ""believe-it-or-not"" quality to the information on scientific experiments that are just past the drawing board stage -- men flying along without aircraft; monorail intercity transportation; huge ""walking"" machines to be used in rough terrain and robot equipment on the moon. These examples indicate the book's strongest point which is material on the newest in land, sea and air transport, although advances in communications and space research are not ignored. In every area discussed, a little of the history of various inventions and their creators is included. More important, the author always explains in simple terms the effect that each big change could have on the total economy and now this is researched and planned for, too. Excellent information and appealing to those equipped with short attention spans.
