THE VICTORY OF PAUL KENT

A sober theme, developed with not too sober dramatic incident, this tells of a young Methodist preacher's conflict with his conscience. Handpicked from the seminary to fill a temporary pastorate in a desirable community, Paul Kent and his wife Lorene find the midwestern town of Bennet a rewarding position after many years of study and sacrifice. There Paul is the only source of confession for Charlotte Bryan, who had become pregnant by Charles Ware, only son of a prominent member of the church who had used his influence in Kent's favor. With Charlotte's death, later proved to be murder, it is Kent alone who knows that young Ware is the killer, and, although jeopardizing the permanence of his future in Bennet, his conscience drives him to expose the murderer. Transferred down to a poor pastorate which offers little, Paul and Lorene still see the light of the ""cause"" and do not regret his stand. Adequate.
