DUNE BUGGIES

Using the old Volkswagen only as a historical ""starting point,"" Gladstone glorifies the shiny, plastic-bodied variants of these ""Fun Cars"" -- the Mini-T, Meyers SR and TOW'D (pronounced Toad). Gladstone promises that, in addition to providing a way for their owners to make ""a very personal statement about themselves,"" these models offer ""neck-snapping acceleration."" Photos of races and the acknowledgment that races are run in three categories (Bombers, Rails and Modifieds) complete this sales pitch. Window shoppers will probably find that they can get this kind of glossy promotional material more cheaply from their local dealers.
