KIRKUS REVIEW

This is the Burdick-Lederer bit and territory--an English businessman-hero adapts the more extreme thumbscrew twists of Oriental intrigue to disorient the villains. Even if the mystery is a vehicle for a polemic, the author drives it with a storyteller's skill and includes some deliberate sideswipes at rock and roll morality and permissive parenthood. Middle-aged Paul Harris is the one man guerrilla army who holds back the Red tide from the island of Bintan, where his best friend, the British Resident, has been murdered. Except for one Dragon Lady type, the characterizations and dialogue are sharp as a bamboo bodkin.
