KIRKUS REVIEW

The Hunza of nutrition has updated the material which has been reappearing at intervals since 1911 (most recently under the same title, 1963 -- except for the NEW) plumping for his old yogurt and brewers' yeast and lean cookery in general as well as an indiscriminate number of other things (glutamic acid for failing memory; beauty farms like the Main Chance; eating out -- at Maxim's in Paris; Paul Niehans' cell therapy) so you can just about choose any new wrinkle to keep the old ones away. ""You are what you eat""; ""you also are what you think and feel."" Overall advice on the right foods (proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins -- yes, C for colds) and their value in fighting disease (he's dropped the cancer cure claim or rather subdued it to a question of general well-being) or cosmetic culture or dieting (whether it's his own Madeira and grog to go with that slice of meat and gluten bread, or an apple diet, or a seven-day elimination diet -- lots to choose from). Hauser will tell you he's been unfairly calumniated for years; he's also done unjustifiably well chewing the same cud.
