HOW FATHER TIME CHANGES THE ANIMALS' SHAPES

By

Publisher: Messner

Grand material under a bad title, which may have the unfortunate result of limiting the appeal. The use of Father Time is a hurdle throughout, and wholly unnecessary. But the factual material is so well-handled that it triumphs over its handicap, and the book emerges as the best study of evolution of certain types of the animal kingdom, from the mists of prehistoric time to the present. The text is illustrated with a number of fascinating charts and maps showing the shifts in the earth's surface, the changing place of sea and land, mountain and plain. The basis and cause of change is included and functionalism and specialization clarified. Graphically and dramatically told, with the same sense of weighing values evidenced in the author's Story of Earthquakes and Volcanoes.
