DUPLICATE BRIDGE

A British import on this rapidly increasing, rabidly pursued form of competition for the veriest beginner, in two central parts -- one on procedures, one on tactics. The tactics will be valuable to anyone (when to double, when to sacrifice, etc.) but the procedures will be confusing to the American player due to the terminology used (a hand is ""thrown in,"" not ""passed out"") and even the match-pointing is different. The simplicity of the instruction may give this a certain functional value since most (and there are many) of our native books on the subject are more sophisticated but the chances are that this will be passed out.
