ABANDONED by G.D. Griffiths

In spite of an eventful time on Dartmoor heath that includes flood, brush fire, foxhounds and hardhearted humans, the life of this feral she-cat is much tamer than that of Peck's Wild Cat [KR, p. 457, J-153). Perhaps her life is too eventful since this low-keyed story (sentimental only when humans enter the picture) is most sympathetic when it appears to be a realistic, stray's eye view of life. Like Just A Dog (KR, p. 453, J-149), this incident-crowded narrative requires the instant identification with the animal heroine that only committed pet lovers may be able to manage.
