Fictionized study of the rise from obscurity to notoriety, of Mrs. J. J. Brown (alias Mrs. Jonathan Jay). Molly of Irish parentage, marries Jay, lucky miner, and spurred on by the snubbing she receives in Denver society, she manages to conquer the portals of New York's 400. The story starts in 1870, and carries on through the World War. The appeal might be somewhat that of GAMBLER'S WIFE, though Malinda Jenkins finds her way into one's sympathies and respect as Mrs. Jay fails to do. Feminine appeal, primarily, and rental libraries rather than sales.
