Adventure romance of the days of King Philip of France and the period following the death of Richard the Lion-hearted. Michel discovers his parenthood and is given the charge of the singing sword, the rescue of his imprisoned mother, and the tracing of the father she believes still alive. Somewhat overlarded with adventure and the long arm of coincidence overtaxed, but good atmosphere and meticulous attention to factual details of the period.
