KIRKUS REVIEW

I liked this better than George Washington's World -- it seems better keyed to the age group, and without being simplified, it manages to create a better integrated picture of what is going on in the world during Lincoln's lifetime than was achieved in the earlier book. Memorable times, crowded with events that changed the face of history, peopled with characters who ""made history"", distinguished by invention and progress in continental solidity. Graphic writing -- history in the way it should be taught -- this blends world history and biography into a vigorous whole.
