THE SEVEN QUEENS OF ENGLAND by Geoffrey Trease

THE SEVEN QUEENS OF ENGLAND

With the seventh about to be crowned and very much in the public eye, count on added sales for an already tempting package of biographical sketches of Maud, Mary, Elizabeth the First, Mary-(and William), Anne, Victoria and Elizabeth the Second. Mr. Trease's experience as a writer of historical fiction brings the rewards of an on-the-scene quality to his narratives and the ability to fashion a whole personality in a perspective that is remarkably sharp for such short space. He is inclined to glorify, but he shows his prejudices. For instance Henry VII's temper rankling illnesses may have been as much to blame for political schism as evil whims. And the Queens are definitely people to capture the imagination. Readable and informative.
