A standard role, possibly for Clark Gable, of a slum-born slugger with dark good looks and a limitless libido who leaves the East Side to ride the rods west, determined to be a big somebody. Steve almost gets his wish in Minnesota when an enamored and rich farmer's daughter offers her availability, but he decides the rewards are not enough, gets into trouble and escapes to Canada at a time when the lumber industry is just beginning. Here he quickly makes his first- and successive- millions, takes time out to marry the mistress of another man, but when he reaches the top, he leaves her for the young, sex driven daughter of a Wall Street tycoon. At the end, aging and moneyless, his wife is his in name only. The rollercoaster of sex and success, and one of the rougher rides.
