KIRKUS REVIEW

Another Inspector Schmidt story (he of the Corpse with the Purple Thighs) with Bagby on the job as recorder, and the ward, Midge, and her rich young man, in the midst of murder and sudden death, not to mention a few false starts, Nazi plots and counterplots, spies and suspects galore. Money proves the root of all evil, but the murderer saves the family face by committing suicide, after all on the outskirts have realized he is the criminal. Good moments but uneven.
