These are the first titles in a new series, the purpose of which is to give the layman basic understanding of thinkers of the past century who have most influenced the current of our time. To only a very slight degree are these texts biographies -- though, inevitably, where factors in the lives of the three men have born fruit in their thinking and intellectual contribution, those factors are integral to the whole. In each case, the analysis is highly intellectual, philosophical, scientific. Not easy reading and demanding considerable background for full appreciation.
