Duels, disguises, wizardry, even a spot of the plague- all cooked up in a medieval Italian pot and served with the swashbuckling flair that makes an old dish very palatable. Tizzo, the firebrand, so named for his red hair, leaves his wealthy foster-father to follow a mysterious English adventurer into a life of intrigue and adventure. He finds his lady fair in Beatrice whom he rescues countless times, becomes the sworn friend of her all powerful brother, Giovanpaolo, finally achieving the rescue of the family at enormous risk and after a real blood and thunder scene in a torture chamber he also rescues the Englishman, Melrose, who confesses that he is Tizzo's long lost father. Hundreds of heads are cleft from skull to shoulder and Tizzo is left still in pursuit of his chief love- the bright face of danger.
