KIRKUS REVIEW

Another animal story and an often beguiling account of a western Colorado Grizzly Bear. As an orphaned cub, Sheba is found by young Dick Moon and taken to his ranch for safety. She grows up, hibernates once, and makes friends with all of her new family before she listens to the call of the wild and leaves them. For the next three years, with intermittent happy encounters with the Moons, Sheba lives with her mate Baldy, rears two cubs, and braves many dangers, and the record thereof has fascination as well as humor.
