KIRKUS REVIEW

A beaver's life, told in the same homey, informatively solid vein as Franklin's other animal stories, follows Tuffy through a season in a Colorado valley. Setting out as a young beaver in search of his own home, Tuffy makes friends with a porcupine and their mutual protection marks the first set of adventures. When Tuffy builds his dam with a mate there are more hazards to overcome before the beavers are instrumental in saving nearby crops from flood.
