The girl in the black raincoat is chimerical, contradictory, ""mostly irrational and often marvelous"" -- she's also the ""game"" editor Garrett invited a good many people to play by contributing pieces about her, either poetry or short stories. In some of them she may be only an accessory; in others more integral. Some thirty people participated, among them, the editor, Jesse Hill Ford, Mary Lee Settle, William Jay Smith, William Manchester, Henry S. Taylor, Edmund Keeley, who are perhaps the better known of these contemporaries. A professional but non-commercial classroom assignment.
