CHICAGO CONFIDENTIAL

The authors of New York Confidential having a wide open season in Chicago where, with the same ger beaver bounce, they conduct a palpably sensation-seeking circuit of the city. Prostitutes and pimps (81,000 and 52,000 respectively at the last official count), gambling dens and bagnios, sex delinquency and narcotic addiction, the big crime cartel and politics -- ""indivisible"" with the underworld, the Japanese section and tong wars, the Negro Bronseville, the Loop the Levee, and very incidentally a little about the nicer sections, hotels, restaurants, etc. It's very obvious -- and for an obvious -- and for an obvious market.
