Was Tracy Lawrence a Jinx? Two men to who she had been engaged had died violently and in trying to save her third fiance by a trick she seemed to be the cause of two more deaths. Suspects, motives and opportunity a-plenty involved an oddly assorted family living on ancestral acres at Old lyme, Conn. The third fiance, along with the head of the Crombie Agency, ultimately reaches a reasonably convincing solution though the killer escapes to certain death. Better writing for a plausible yarn.
