A study in fear, as a driving, degenerative force which tells of Prescott Marshall about to marry his Marjorie, when blackmailed by a casual pickup, he accidentally kills her. After the ceremony, Prescott looks for anonymity in another city and another job but cannot escape the pursuit he fears- first by an innocent insurance agent, later by a newcomer in the firm whom he discovers to be a detective. Driven to kill, again and again, although his suspicions prove to have been baseless, Prescott eventually confesses to Marjorie, and with her rejection, kills for the last time.... More than a little irony here for an effective evening of suspense.
