THE THEATRE BOOK OF THE YEAR 1942-1943

A chronological record of the season's plays, with program information and notes by Nathan. This is to be the first of an annual series and should mark an interesting departure from previous headliner listings, for the critical annotations give full scope for Nathan's vast knowledge of all things theatrical. For in the musical, vaudeville, dramatic and specialty shows there is scope for a display of his encyclopedic information on similar offerings of the past, on techniques, actors, situations, etc. All critical comment on the current exhibits include, of course, Nathan's well known scepticism, quixotic attack on everything phony, and highly individual brand of counter irritant. An unusual sort of reference volume, stimulating and useful.
