Miss Mouse is a designer--which, according to Mendoza's introduction, ""means she is--an artist, a designer, a dreamer, a builder, a creator, all that and more, too."" And so we have an album of the houses she has created--Squirrel's spaceship-like cabin in a tree, Trout's underwater fantasy, Cat's Japanese-style rocktop retreat, Worm's cozy nest in a hollow pear (""the very core of his dream""), Owl's tower observatory, and a few more. Miss Mouse favors the natural look and most of her homes are so snug they invite you to move right in; but they don't add up to a book for children (or anyone else).
