An anthology drawn from great Roman Catholic writings over a period of nineteen hundred years, with extracts, letters and stories from Mallory, Stevenson Brown, Chesterton, numerous foreign writers of prose -- literature that lives today. In these translations lies the greatest value of the book for American readers, who might never go to the originals and who would, nonetheless, find the material stimulating. Non-Roman Catholics may take issue with the title, since the intention is evidently not to make it allinclusive. They may also object to the opening selections from the Bible as implying that the New Testament is the property of the Roman Church alone.
