THE TEACHINGS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH by George S.- Ed. Smith

THE TEACHINGS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

By

Publisher: Macmillan

In these volumes there are brought together in one composite work essays dealing with various aspects of the Catholic faith which were originally published as separate volumes in a series known as ""The Treasury of the Faith"". Both because many of the original essays are now out of print and because there is definite value for reference purposes in bringing them all together in one publication, this work should be welcomed by all Catholic scholars and others who wish to learn from an authoritative source what the Catholic Church really teaches. The authors of the various chapters and the editor himself are British theologians of the Catholic Church. What the Catholic Church teaches about God, Christ, the Virgin Mary, the Church, the sacraments, man, sin, death and immortality are outlined clearly and succinctly. While the book has a solid basis of scholarship, one does not have to be a trained theologian to understand it. So while the authors made no conscious attempt to ""popularize"" this vast subject, they have presented it in a simple and readable form that should be welcomed by many readers.
