KIRKUS REVIEW

The Coconut Thieves was an outstandingly well designed book and this one shares much of its quality and form. The story has been adapted from one called, ""The Elephant Has a Bet with the Tiger,"" by William Skeat. This book also adapts itself to acting out, with the artfully stylized illustrations charming the eye while suggesting a simple costume and property motif. The theme of the story, which concerns a tiger's competition with an elephant, is that you should be wary of what you see but especially of what is reported to you -- it might be a trick. Here's a clever trick, an easy story to tell or act, a good looking book to show.
