It's subtitled ""an alphabetical story about Annie and her pet."" It's not an alphabet book structured artificially and illogically about an obvious device. The story is built around clearly portrayed, familiar objects-- ""Annie found a kitten at her door. ""Come in and be my pet,"" she said. ""She made a little basket into a bed for her kitten"" and so on. However, since most of the actions aren't dependent on each other, the book probably won't help children to remember the order of the alphabet as much as it might have.
