KIRKUS REVIEW

The suicide of his best friend Mike Kramer on the night of the housewarming of the Warren's showcase house gives Ben Warren a reason to think over his life and see what he has done with it. Looking through Mike's diary, which his ex-wife Jane asks him to dispose of, he discovers Mike's view of Ben's change through the years from a lover of life and creative light-man to a soiled businessman immersed in finance and adultery. He finds that Mike loved his wife Helen, and that his own son shared with Mike while shunning Ben. His meeting with Helen while a drama student at Yale, their early married life followed by the more ""successful"" later years with business in the fore, are told in flashbacks. The conclusion -- a new day will dawn. Authentic Yale and Connecticut background, easy if unimaginative handling.
