DANGER ON THE RIGHT

Drawing upon the documentation made of the American Far Right while functioning for the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith, the authors have presented a book about the attitudes, personnel and influence of the main organizations of the Radical Right and among the Extreme conservatives. The former group is differentiated from the latter by their belief that America is prey to socialism through conspiracy rather than by blunder, but there are indications of association and exchange. Here accounted for as to history, outlook, finance, leadership are the John Birch Society. The Christian Anti-Communism Crusade, the Christian Crusade, The National Education Program, Rev. Carl McIntire's 20th Century Reformation Hour, The Manion Forum, Facts Forum or the ""Dan Smoot Report,"" The Church League of America, the Courtneys' Conservative Society of America, and The Liberty Amendment Committee of the U.S.A. -- Section Two takes up the Extreme Conservatives, represented by Americans for Constitutional Action, James L. Wick's Human Events (""an Influential traveler of the Radical Right""), the intellectually oriented Intercollegiate Society of Individualists and the activist Young Americans for Freedom, and finally The National Review, edited by William F. Buckley, Jr., who is seen as a link between generations and with the Radical Right. The appendices cover other right wing organizations briefly and give sources of finance. Primarily documentary rather than analytical, this approaches an area of first concern from a Liberal position with responsibility and reserve.
