THE STORY OF THE PEACE CORPS

The Peace Corps is certain to receive further attention in book form and the comprehensive book on its formation is yet to be written. In the meantime, this brief book is informative. It gives the Corps' history from the first mention made by JFK while still a Senator; it describes the membership, numbering almost 10,000; their training; their volunteer service in 47 countries; and analyzes the progress and programs in nine countries where the Peace Corps has been in operation longest in such varied activities as agriculture, marketing, teaching and engineering. An appendix gives the organizational plan of the Corps.
