The search for Lenz, a terrorist, in Palestine just before it achieves its new nationality becomes rabid and relentless as Bill Pickering and his assistant, John Gray, of the District investigation Branch become obsessed by the man who eludes them. A police station is dynamited and destroyed along with eight lives, and Gray, new and a little naive in this work, is responsible for the death of their informer. In the reciprocal raids which follow. Pickering, is injured and a changed man to the point where Helen, his wife, can no longer take their marriage. And finally, with Pickering's death, Gray goes on alone to get lenz at a costly price... Deadly, but never dull, this feeds on violence from which it also takes much of its impetus.
