KIRKUS REVIEW

Two more Simenon tales, -- The Lodger and One Way Out, both psychological studies of anti-social characters. There is Ellie, who commits murder for money, but who disintegrates while he is in hiding at a boarding house. There are Jules and Juliette with whom he elopes, both unable to find happiness and bringing only misfortune to each other, with Jules even lacking the guts to fulfill the suicide pact...The widening ripples of results from each deed, the people they affect, the pursuit of punishment to come. Seber.
