KIRKUS REVIEW

Maigret feels very much like vin ordinaire when exposed to the sumptuous circle of a wine merchant who is deservedly killed. But by whom -- one of his employees and/or mistresses or their husbands or perhaps a blackmailer since he'd been tasting more than his products. Maigret, with Mme. Maigret moving quietly in the domestic background, is as irreproachable as ever.
