MEN ARE SO ARDENT

There's a tongue in check element that somewhat distorts this rather fantastic caricature of a gold digger in the making. An oddly oblique approach to a tale about a youthful opportunist who attempts to pass on her shallow knowledge of the technique for getting all for nothing, to her loss sophisticated and hard-boiled girl friends. The girls seem overdrawn -- the other characters out of drawing -- the result is a certain brittle sophisticated entertainment that doesn't quite come off. Certainly not for the conservatives.
