THE YOUNG SCIENTIST'S READER

A selection of short pieces on various topics from levers to sea shells presents fair introductions to the many faces of science. Thirty seven in all, the articles relate history, state facts behind modern scientific principles and illustrate some simple experiments to do at home. The piece on aviation, for example, covers historical flight from Leonardo's day on past the Wright brothers, while another article supplements it with a brief comment on the internal combustion engine. Later there are experiments to do with air pressure.
