SPLENDOR IN THE SKY

This is a superior over-all historical survey of astronomy, and because of the wide scope of its cultural references and fine clear style it is one of the best and most interesting introductions to the subject available today. Beginning with the Greeks and the Romans and with the procession of discoveries by Galileo, Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler and Newton, little-known anecdotes, tales of futile voyages, and lucid descriptions of modern theories are reviewed. Excellent for young adults.
