A nicely mixed grab-bag of games, quizzes, tables, diagrams, and story problems that call for logic, memory, visual imagination, accuracy of observation, reasoning power, or all of the above. Some are familiar (what six coins make 48¢?) but most are new; some (the dullest) require only knowledge (of geography, say) but others demand active cerebration; some are easy but lots are not as easy as they look. All together, a worthy companion to the Linn and Gardner puzzle books and a happy balance to their more mathematical orientation.
