THE SECRETS OF SUCCESSFUL RETIREMENT

When Zimmerman writes seriously- almost scientifically- about the economics of retirement, about how to analyze your income potentials, how to approach matters of pension, social security, insurance, annuities, investments, home purchase and upkeep- he is authoritative and his advice is sound and valuable. And a major part of this book is devoted to these areas, handled for the intelligent citizen who can understand charts and figures. He is reasonably good in the areas of what to do about making retirement worthwhile, about part-time work, about contributing to civic life in retirement years, about hobbies. But when his aim is inspiration, somehow his text- with its too liberal use of cases and quotations of other opinions- seems a scissors and paste job. Not a book for reading through- but a book for thoughtful study at least 10-20 years before retirement.
