The creator of The Rise of the Goldbergs which knew radio and TV popularity is most disarming about the story of her life. Her pictures of her warm, happy world with her grandparents and parents, of their days on the lower East Side of New York, and their gatherings for ritual celebrations, are full of detail; the stories of her father's restaurants and the hotel at Fleischmanns tell of the help, the guests, and, always, the weather and often have a look at the townspeople. With the coming of Lew Barg, her marriage to him and their children, the desire to write gains on her and the account of her radio, TV and, lately, theater career takes over. This is a personal history that is unassuming and should have many friends established through the home audiences that ""knew her when"".
