HERE COME THE ELEPHANTS

Loosely integrated and rather amateurishly constructed book --but chockful of wonderful tales of the lives and cleverness of individual elephants, of Jumbo, of Barnum's famous ""white elephant"", of Princess Alice and her mate, etc. There is ample scope for interest in the running history of the elephant, from the three foot high prehistoric forerunner, to the war elephants of Biblical times, the domesticated, hardworking elephants of India, the pampered royal elephants of Burma and Sia.
