KIRKUS REVIEW

The displacement of the Modoc Indians leads to costly violence which the U.S. Cavalry, Del Buckman, and his brother Zack, must handle. But more trouble than the Red Men is a family of poor white trash, and a young degenerate, Monk Sleeper, who creates most of the incidents here... Not much of a maverick when it comes to story or style, but an average, active footnote to history.
