THE NEW MISSIONARY CHURCH

It is good indeed that a permanent form has been given this collection of statements selected from addresses delivered at two of the national meetings of the Mission Secretariat. Their publication will help give focus to the need for fresh approaches to the main purpose of the Church -- Christianization of the world. The spokesmen, experienced, literate and thoughtful, include Joseph Cardinal Ritter, Joseph Fitzpatrick, S.J., Bishop Mark G. McGrath, C.S.C., George A. Dunne, S.J., Douglas Hyde, William E. Moran, Jr. and Charles A. Curran. The viewpoints expressed are significant, varied and pointed. The urgency of their message may reactivate the professionally interested who will listen. Perhaps too the book's appearance will help people who should be generating zeal among the young to find new inspiration here to re-energize anxiety for bringing Christ to all men which His followers were ordered to do in His name.
