How does Camillo, a humble woodcarver, end up at boarding school? He finds himself married to Carlotta, the prettiest member of a proud but impecunious family, whose sausage-king uncle demands that she marry within seventeen hours or lose out in his will. Her family, the usual unpleasant confederation of idle aristocrats, stashes him in school-ostensibly to up his presentability, but in fact to expedite the suit of rich Signor Filet and annul the marriage before it can be consummated. And so it goes, until Filet is exposed as a fortune hunting crook and the young couple falls in love. The other Don Camillo would be disappointed in this comedy of manners, which just isn't very funny at all.
