THE END OF THE ARMISTICE

Essays which are distinguished from the average by their uncanny prescience. Unpublished material, brought together to show how far ahead of his time Chesterton was in his vision and comprehension. He visualized the coalition between Germany and Russia, the destruction of Poland, the rise of pacifism and its effect on England's preparedness, on her spiritual and mental attitudes. He feared the worst, saw Hitlerism triumphant. He felt that the Treaty was never a peace but preparation for a more destructive war, and he hoped mankind would awake to the danger in time.
