CHRISTMAS THROUGH THE YEARS

Sticky as ribbon candy on New Year's Day, these excerpts from published works and some hitherto unpublished adhere to the familiar sentimental Christmas tableaux. Wee ones sparkle with anticipations; family comes stomping in from the cold covered with homestead snowflakes; tree love blossoms out of loneliness as the Christmas spirit barges in, a small boy, misunderstood, runs away, to return to his reforming, Christmas-chastened adults. Plenty of seasonal food, cosy kitchens and of course snow, each flake appearing in the nick of time. For those who like lavish glitter on Christmas cards, Mrs. Carroll supplies it all, down to the last sugar plum. Hallmark decked with holly-jolly, for Mrs. Carroll's coterie.
