The C I O and labor union problems come to the fore in light fiction. The story of the Bannister family, with Bannister, head of one mill, refusing to compromise with the union, and Linda, the wife and mother, the guiding force of the household, who manages to bring her husband and the labor organizer together. The setting is a paper mill town. The men in Bannister's mill have been well treated, and he hates to make concessions to outsiders. Tragedies ensue -- sabotage, riots, suicide, and strikes wreak havoc on all classes. Then Linda steps in. Capably done, with a certain home-spun quality in the family aspects of the story.
